Dear all,
What a lovely sunny week we have had, let’s hope this fine weather stays with us? This week I have spent a lot of time watching lessons and it is really pleasing to see how well the students have settled into their new routines. Many of our subject areas have adapted their schemes of work to ensure the work students have missed has been interleaved into this academic year, and it is great to see how hard students are working in lessons. It is an impressive environment to see! Our Year 11 and Year 13 students have started back to school with a fabulous attitude, not only are they starting earlier than other students but they also have an extra hour every single day. This extra time, as well as the adaptions to learning plans, our planned intervention and independent work will ensure they have every chance of achieving the grades they deserve.
Our Open Events for parents continue. Next week we are hosting a Webinar on Tuesday at 6pm for parents with Year 6 children and another one the following Tuesday. You can sign up via the links on our website. We also have an appointment only Open Evening; although there has already been unprecedented demand for places. The very best way to see our school if you have a Year 6 child will be to book a tour.
As you would expect we are continuing to take every precaution to prevent any positive cases of Covid-19 within our school environment. Earlier this week there was a helpful parent guide that we uploaded onto our website. If at any stage your child does have a positive test, it is vital that we are told immediately, day or night, week day or weekend. Could you therefore, call both the school, if this occurs in the day time, and in addition, email me directly at pskipp@jogschool.org Having said that, let’s hope there isn’t the need!
Finally, do keep in touch with us should you have any concerns, we really enjoy having communication with parents so please feel free to contact us if there is anything we can support with.
Have a great weekend,
Paul Skipp
