Textiles
Are you a creative thinker, committed, enthusiastic and full of ideas? Do you want to explore the world around you visually through fabric designing, making garments or soft furnishings or working creatively with stitch? If so then A Level Textiles is for you.
Content
We place emphasis on the individual, and encourage our students to use Textiles to explore their own interests and ideas, rather than set traditional projects. This is an exciting new course this year.
You will be given one-to-one guidance to help you direct your studies in a purposeful way so that you achieve your potential at examination.
Special Features
There is a studio exclusively for Sixth Form use, a Sixth Form Resources Centre, and art exhibitions at the end of every term. We have professional photography studio equipment, high quality print facilities as well as a specialist textile classroom with a range of sewing machines and mannequins.
Entry requirements
Please refer to the John of Gaunt entry requirements.
Attendance
Coursework is now done over the full two years with a final exam project at the end of year 13. You will not get a grade at the end of year 12. You must complete the full two years.

Moving on
Many students are successful in their applications to foundation courses at Trowbridge and Bath. These courses lead to a degree and/or career in Textiles – fashion textiles, fashion design, fashion print, Media, Graphics, Illustration, Interior design, fashion business, marketing, stylist and teaching. Direct entry to History of Art, Museums and Galleries, Auctioneering and Architecture is possible. Textiles combine with virtually any other subject and forms a valuable complement to English, History and other A-Level Arts subjects.
